    I live in the desert, where the water is hard, and use salt to soften it. The bowl was constantly getting that hard calcium ring, brown stains, no matter how much I scrubbed, it was returning and my hands & fingers were getting sore from using a pumice stone on them.     I have to admit I was very unsure about buying these. I got sucked into a few on line commercials which the products were complete failures! Not these things! I have been so pleased with these. Been using since December and they have done what was told. I have 3 in our home. The real test will be the one I just placed in our summer cottage that we just opened up for the season. Well water and no water softener so time will tell if they can handle that.
